Little Climber

We've been waiting and wondering when and whether Vivian would ever climb out of her crib. Stella started doing that at around 4 months. Just kidding. But I definitely remember the night when Stella scared the crap out of us by just appearing in the living room. Well, Vivian has never so much as stood up in her crib. When she wakes up, she just calls, "Mommy" or "Stella" or "Daddy" or whoever she wants to come and get her. We always find her still lying down. On July 5 she called "Mommy. Mommy" as usual but when I went to get her she wasn't really ready to be picked up. I left the room for a moment and told her I would be back. I went into the kitchen, maybe to get a glass of water, and the next thing I knew, there she was! She climbed out. Then she did the same thing after her nap (only this time without calling "Mommy. Mommy."). And now it is a sometimes thing. Sometimes she calls first and if we don't come right away, she ain't waiting. Sometimes she doesn't call at all but just climbs out and comes to find us. It's fun to hear the little pitter patter of her feet exploring the apartment on her own. This morning I listened as she went first to the kitchen and then, finding it empty, came and found me in bed. I think it is almost time for her to move from the crib into the bunk bed. I'll miss having her so close by so I'm in no rush.
