All Done With Diapers
On Friday night (April 12), after a bath, I went to put a pullup on Vivian. We recently moved from diapers to pullups at night because Vivian was really resisting wearing a diaper and I was really resisting having to wake up in the middle of the night to change sheets. For a few weeks, she bought that pullups were kind of like underwear but they just didn't get wet. But Friday, she begged me not to put a pullup on her. It wasn't the first time. There have been a few nights here and there where Viv went to sleep in underwear and then I put a pullup on her after she was sleeping. She was often not too pleased about it in the morning when she realized but it wasn't that big of a deal. However, Friday she demanded, "And don't put a diaper on me while I am asleep!" So I said that if we were going to do that, she had to pee before she went to bed which she did with no resistance. Then I went out for dinner with some friends and David went to "Motown" or "Here Lies Love". Around midnight I took Vivian to the bathroom as we used to do with Stella. Stella never ever woke up when we did this. She would just pee on the toilet in her sleep and we would carry her back to her bed. But every kid is different and Vivian pretty much woke up the second I picked her up. She was so so happy to see me and to know that I was back home from a night out. She asked me if I was home for the night. I said I was and that I was just going to take her to the bathroom. I did, she peed, she kissed me many times and smiled a big mommy is home smile and went right back to sleep. We are now four nights into this and no wet beds. Every day something happens that confirms that I am no longer the mommy of a baby. This is pretty convincing evidence of that. Vivian is proud of herself and I am proud too (and a little bit sad).
